ITIL stands for IT Infrastructure Library, and I'm sure anyone googling it will see this truism: IT is so new of a profession with so few firm rules for operation and results, companies and individuals not familiar with it will have a hard time navigating and developing benchmarks for good service and output. Ah ha - enter ITIL, the early equivalent (in philosophy if not form) of the GAAP for accounting! ITIL was started pre-2000 in Britain (PLENTY of info on this out there) and they've just release v3 to the general public. Expect to hear more about this here as we spin up on ITIL v3!
